Apple iPod Touch

The iPod touch from Apple is based on their iPhone and comes with 8GB or 16GB storage formats. It's a potable media player with a 3.5 inch widescreen and as the name suggests has an intuitive touch screen system. In fact there is only 1 button in the Touch which is handy for taking you back to the main menu.

Apple iPod TouchAs with the new iPod range the iPod Touch is slim at only 8mm thick and measures 100mm by 62mm, small enough to fit in your palm and in your pocket. It also weighs a mere 120 grams. The screen resolution is 480 by 320 and is designed to be used with a web browser. You can zoom into parts of a webpage to actually read it.

You can of course play music, watch video, view pictures but also surf the web (with available wi-fi connection), applications mostly to make it easier to do web stuff and of course you can download music directly to your iPod touch using iTunes.

As well as being able to play Apple's own format music AAC you can also play MP3 format files. Video formats supported include .m4v, .mp4, and .mov but you will need additional software to convert .avi files to .mp4 to play then on any iPod device. You also need windows SP2 (or Mac OS X of course) or later and iTunes to connect it to your computer and transfer files.

As with many top end media players the battery is built in and with the Apple iPod Touch is charged via the USB connection on your computer or you can buy an additional charger. You should be able to get 5 hours video playback or 22 hours audio playback from a fully charged battery.
