Archos AV400 Portable Media Player
The Archos AV400 series consists of the AV420, AV480 and the AV4100 which are 20GB, 80GB and 100GB capacity respectively. This portable media player is able to record from your TV via it's cradle connection and play back video via the LCD screen or onto your TV.
Depending on the model the AV400 sports a 3.5" to 3.8" TFT screen which displays 320 x 240 pixels output. The rechargeable Li-Ion battery powers the unit giving up to 3.5 hours video playback.
Weighing just under 10oz and measuring 4.9 inches by 3.1 inches and just under 1 inch deep the Archos AV400 series makes a decent portable video device. It is able to play and record video and audio and display your photographs in JPEG or BMP.
The device supports MPEG-4 AVI format files and can read XviD and DivX 4.0 and 5.0 encoded data. The AV400 audio can play MP3, WMA and WAV files, it also records in WAV format.
There are plenty of connections on the Archos AV400 series allowing your to connect to a TV for recording and playback. It can read CompactFlash memory cards with it's built in reader so you can transfer your photographs straight onto the AV400 without a PC.
