The Archos Gmini 400 is one of the smaller portable media players. It allows you to play music, video and view your photos. You can record music in WAV format but the Gmini 400 does not allow you to record video. You can also play games on the Gmini 400, these are downloadable from the Archos website for a small fee.
The player has a 2.2 inch LCD screen that can display a resolution of 220 x 176 pixels and has a TV output. The unit itself measures 4.17 x 2.37 x 0.69 inches and weighs 5.6 oz, one of the lightest portable media players I have reviewed. The Gmini 400 is powered by an internal Li-ion battery that provides 5 hours of video playback.
It's lack of video recording does not rank this player among it's more expensive cousins. The ability to play games may attract some users. The built in Compact Flash reader will be a boon for photographers as they can use this device to store photographs whilst away from their computer.
