The Lyra RD2780 20GB digital media player from RCA allows you to play and record video, audio and view your photographs with this hand held device. The Lyra RD2780 is about the size of your hand so it will probably slip into an ample pocket. It comes with a 20GB drive and a built incompact Flash memory card reader to transfer your photographs directly onto the player.
The software that comes with the RD2780 is compatible with Windows and the Macintosh. You connect the digital media player to your computer via the supplied USB 2.0 cable to allow you to transfer your videos, songs and pictures onto the Lyra. You can use the supplied composite video cable to connect the player to your television so you can enjoy your videos and pictures on a larger screen.
The Lyra RD2780 20GB digital media player measures 0.95 x 5.37 x 3.13 inches and weighs 13 ounces. In metric that equates to approximately 25 x 130 x 80 mm and weighs about 368 grams. The built in TFT LCD screen is backlit and measures 3.5 inches. The unit is powered by a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery.
The formats supported by the Lyra include MP3 for audio, Photographs in JPEG and video is supported by AVI MPEG4-SP encoded video. The player can also handle DivX 4/5 encoded video files.
All round the Lyra RD2780 is a decent looking portable media player, in my opinion a lot more compact looking that many other portable media players on the market.
