X2 Mega View 566

X2 Mega View 566 portable media playerThe X2 Mega View 566 is the first portable media player from X2. The Mega View 566 allows you to play and record video, play music, view your photos, listen to FM radio and use the device as a voice recorder. The 20GB drive also acts as an external drive when you connect it to your PC, both Windows and Mac.

You can connect the Mega View 566 directly to a video source to record like a VCR without the need for a PC. Connecting to a TV you can view video and your photos. There is also a built in SD/MMC Memory Card Slot so you can transfer your images straight onto the media player.

The Mega View 566 weighs 8.5oz and measures 4.7x2.9x0.8 inches, that's less than an inch thick. The 3.5 inch LCD displays 320 x 240 pixels which is pretty standard for most media players at the moment. The built in Li-ion battery lasts about 6 hours when playing video.

You get a remote control and a tripod as part of the package although I question whether you need a remote for a device with a 3.5 inch screen.

This is a good all round player that handles the main video and image formats including TIFF which is an uncompressed image format. The drive like most players is a little small if you plan on keeping all of your video on this device although you can get about 80 hours onto a 20GB drive.
